Characters: Dee, Ryo, JJ.
Rating: PG
Setting: During the manga.
Summary: It’s the job of the police to protect the citizens of New York from all kinds of danger.
Written Using: The dw100 prompt ‘Soldier’.
Disclaimer: I don’t own FAKE, or the characters. They belong to the wonderful Sanami Matoh.
A/N: This one’s a double drabble.
Days like this, Dee feels like a soldier gearing up for battle, strapping on his armour and readying his weapons. But this is New York, not a war zone. There are some who’d debate that point; the war on terror might be staged on the streets of their own city, but the dangers are just as real as they are for the brave men and women serving their country overseas. The police are merely on a different frontline, and the enemy not so easy to pick out from the crowds of ordinary citizens thronging the streets.
Bulletproof vests are Dee’s armour, and his weapon of choice is his trusty police issue handgun. He’s taking point, smashing a terrorist cell, and he’s wary but unafraid. He has almost a dozen good cops at his back, more spread out around the building, making sure nobody can slip out the back while he and his team are going in the front. Even better than that, Ryo and JJ are in position front and back, sniper rifles at the ready.
There’s no room for failure; the people of New York are depending on the police to keep them safe. They won’t let them down.
