Summary: Jack can see Tosh’s potential even if UNIT can’t.

A/N: Double drabble.
Jack was angry but he hid it well; dealing with UNIT made that a necessity. Still, what were they thinking? Didn’t they have any idea what they’d got? Apparently not, otherwise they wouldn’t have tossed a certified genius into one of their cramped, unfurnished cells.
Okay, so technically Toshiko Sato had committed treason, but from what he’d heard there’d been extenuating circumstances. Her mother had been abducted and Ms Sato was just trying to secure her release. She’d gone about it the wrong way, but if she hadn’t, he might never have discovered how brilliant she was. She’d been wasted at the DoD.
Locking her away to rot for the rest of her life was an even greater waste, however, and one he couldn’t allow. If she could take faulty plans and intuitively make corrections that resulted in a working sonic modulator, then what else could she do? Jack was looking forward to finding out.
First though, he needed to convince UNIT to let him take her off their hands, then convince Ms Sato that signing a five-year contract with Torchwood was better than life in prison. That at least shouldn’t be difficult.
He’d enjoy helping unlock her full potential.
