Characters: Dee, Ryo.
Rating: PG
Setting: After Like Like Love.
Summary: Of all the times for the elevator in Dee’s building to stop working…
Written Using: The dw100 prompt ‘Inconvenient’.
Disclaimer: I don’t own FAKE, or the characters. They belong to the wonderful Sanami Matoh.
A/N: Triple drabble.
The elevator was out at Dee’s place. Most of the time that wouldn’t be a problem, despite him living on the top floor. He was young, and he kept himself in good shape; walking up and down four flights of stairs was nothing to a guy who routinely chased criminals through the obstacle course that was New York’s back alleys. Today though, the lack of a working elevator was more than a little inconvenient.
“Oh, this is just great!”
“It’s not ideal,” Ryo agreed, looking at the new living room suite that had just been delivered.
“Least those delivery guys could’a done is help us carry everything up to our apartment.”
“You heard them; that’s not part of their job, they’re only contracted to bring furnishings as far as the door.”
“Yeah, but shouldn’t that be the door to the apartment, not just the door to the buildin’?”
Ryo sighed, shoving one hand through his hair, leaving it sticking up in places, a look Dee usually found sexy as hell. “How should I know? I didn’t make the rules.” He shook his head. “There’s no point arguing over it anyway. We have two sofas and two easy chairs to take up to the top floor.”
“By ourselves.” Dee scowled. “How’re we gonna manage that? We’ve only got two pairs of hands between us.”
“We’ll do it in stages, one floor at a time. Take the cushions up first, then the sofas, and then the chairs. Once everything’s on the first floor we can take a break before we move it up to the next floor.”
“You make it sound easy.”
“It won’t be, but we’ll get there if we take things slow and steady. The worst thing we can do is try to rush.”
“Guess you’re right. Stupid frickin’ elevator.”
The End
