drabble_zone.Spoilers/Setting: Second half of Season Two.
Summary: Buffy misses how things used to be before Angel switched sides.

A/N: Double drabble.
Everything’s wrong now that Angel’s gone over to the other side. Suddenly Buffy is back to patrolling on her own most nights, which she’s totally capable of doing, she doesn’t need back-up, but still…
She misses Angel’s company. Not just the making out, although that was the highlight of most of her evenings, but just having someone to talk with when there was nothing around to slay. Not every evening can be wall-to-wall vampires and demons; sometimes everywhere is just dead instead of teeming with the undead, and it gets boring, wandering around looking for something evil to kill.
She misses having Angel covering her back during a fight, the thrill of double-teaming some big nasty, the adrenaline rush of sharing the action with someone who’s her equal in strength, speed, and skill. She knows Willow, Xander, Oz, even Cordy, do their best when they tag along, but they’re just regular humans, not Slayers.
Even Giles, with all his knowledge of fighting techniques, can’t keep up. Then again, he’s older, so she doesn’t expect him to. Slaying is for the young. It makes her wish Kendra was still here. There was so much they might have learned from each other.
