“If we’re out in space, how come we’re not floating around like balloons? I’ve seen video of astronauts in the space station. Everyone knows there’s no gravity in space.” Jackie tried jumping, but still didn’t float.
“Mum!” Rose frowned at her mother, embarrassed.
“What? I’m just askin’. Probably not the only one who wants to know. I mean, spaceships and all.”
“Artificial gravity,” the red-haired woman, Donna, explained. “Just because humans haven’t figured it out doesn’t mean nobody has. Aliens are way more advanced when it comes to technology.”
Jackie turned to Rose. “Why couldn’t you just tell me that?”
